FOODSTUFF

Ah, food.  Everybody's favorite topic.  Listing a Top 5 is quite a challenge because taste is unpredictable and the palate can be a fickle thing. The stomach, on the otherhand, is pleased as long as it is fed.  But since the page reads, "Foodstuff" on the Top 5 Quintessential Travel List, 5 items have to go on lists here. Perhaps the best way is to create a definitive list for all types of foodstuff, cuisines, and restaurants, and then categorical lists according to cuisine, location, price etc.  Let's begin our adventure, shall we?

A TASTY TRIP.

“The way to a man's heart is through his stomach.” The Michelin guide’s inspiration derives from it: “The quickest route to the heart of a foreign land is through the stomach, human history is best told through its food and drink.”  As we taste their food, we get closer to their culture.  And what truly brings a country pride is its cuisine—a flavorful culture shaped by the place’s natural bounty, its history, traditions, and topography.

INDIGENOUS CUISINE.

Beyond every experience, a journey is just a vacation and not an adventure without a variety of indigenous cuisine.  When you explore a country or a place's food it isn't uncommon to often find interesting surprises in every dish. Not everyone has the courage of Anthony Bourdain because some of those surprises can offend your tastebuds.  Nevertheless, whether you're a tourist or a traveler, courageous or careful, your journey won't be complete if your itinerary excludes from it the thrill of tasting what has been foretold about a place’s cuisine.

TOP 5 MAKATI MUST-TRY RESTAURANTS

There are ubiquitous restaurants to be found in Makati being the central business district of the Philippines and choosing where it is best to dine can be easy with a useful restaurant guide or an online food & dining directory with almost all the restaurants listed in them. But when you're new in town and everything looks the same or too different, it can be overwhelming, so you'd want to keep it simple and tryout those restaurants that have rarely failed to satisfy the easily-angered, tired and hungry traveler.

Long lists sometimes make the choice harder.  Maybe a shortlist  like a Top 5 to help you create your food and dining itinerary is what's best for starters.  We have chosen 5 restaurants with some of the best flavors in town.  Not all are indigenous Filipino Cuisine because in a modern city like Makati, the restaurant dining experience is global. Join us for a quick run through of our five topmost “must try” restaurants in the city.
