GADDABOUT GIRL DIARIES

Hola chicas! On this page, I will share with you nifty urbane travel tips for your shoestring budget vacation. You don't need to feel like a cheapskate just because you're not staying at the Shangri-la.  There are many ways to stretch the budget, if you know your way around my country.  That's the way I like to do it!  Hence my moniker: "Practical Prissy Traveler".  I like living like a maggot in bacon, even though I'd never ever compare myself to a maggot because I don't feed-off of dead bodies, and I love bacon but I'm not quite sure if a real maggot would like bacon since bacon is fried in oil - it's all a matter of taste.  So maybe I shouldn't use that idiomatic expression.  Let me put it this way, I love my Frette beddings, Calamander hardwood floors, golden Travertino Giallo bathroom tiles, FIRMA lamps, E.F.Kluft mattresses, Parnian furniture, you get the picture.  Maybe I've gone a little bit over-the-top, but if I can teach you the ins and outs of "chi-chi" bargain traveling in my own country, would you care to flip through my pages? I will show you the ropes starting with the jump-off-point, Manila, and then we can work our way around the rest of the country.  The Metropolis is where you need to be quick-on-your-feet and ready to maneuver your way around Manila's cacophony.  There are lots to contend with, I must warn you it won't be a breeze, but if you can take the heat, you're halfway through this amazing journey through one of the most dynamic Asian countries you will ever get to experience. Nevermind its incorrigible traffic jams, and all those time-consuming serpentine lines everywhere, I assure you, the rest of the country, it's hidden gems, and its people are going to make this trip all worth the trouble.

PASALUBONG - root word: salubong (to welcome)

pasalubong - n. homecoming treat, souvenir

Tagalog Lang Dictionary
When Filipinos go on a trip or live overseas, they are expected to bring back gifts on their return.  That's pasalubong!  It's a big deal. If you don't bring pasalubong to people who welcome you, they'll think you never thought of them while you were away.
